MARTINOVIĆ: ROADS DAMAGED FROM FLOODS IN MIONICA, STATE AID ON ITS WAY

The local roads in the Municipality of Mionica have suffered heavy damage due to the heavy rainfall that hit the territory of this municipality. Certain roads, primarily the uncategorized and macadam roads, remained insufficiently passable following the recent rainfall in this region. This was especially noticeable in the mountainous area of the Municipality of Mionica, where the damage to the road infrastructure was estimated at more than 40%, as stated today in Mionica after the meeting between the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, and the President of the Municipality of Mionica, Boban Janković.

It was also stated that more than 20 hectares of crops were damaged, as well as a large number of households in villages such as Planinica, Struganik, Berkovac, Popadić, Krčmar, Osečenica, Gornji Lajkovac, Ključ and Mionica, where the situation was the most severe.

In addition to praising the initiative of the municipality and its leadership, as well as the speed of remedying part of the damage caused by the floods, minister Martinović had said that the reports about the floods are successively arriving at the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which has already commenced with disbursing compensation in respect of damages. He added that Local Self-Government Units can also expect support from the State in regards to the rehabilitation of the road network.

As he said, the State has already started with works for repairing the damage to the traffic infrastructure, but there is still a lot of rehabilitation work ahead in this sector, which requires significant financial resources. He had recalled that there are hundreds of kilometres of roads in Mionica alone, but also emphasized that he is convinced that with a stable budget and economic growth, and with the joint efforts of the central level of government and the local community, most of the work will be completed.

Mionica is the tenth Local Self-Government Unit that was visited by minister Martinović in order to discuss the remedying of all damages and consequences that were recorded in the wake of severe weather in May and June of this year.

In Mionica, the minister had visited the bridge in Paštrić, the road in the village of Popadić, as well as the landslide in the settlement of Berkovac, and on this occasion handed over twenty laptops to the municipal administration of Mionica as a contribution to the further development of its e-administration.
