MARTINOVIĆ: THROUGH STATE INVESTMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE, IRIG BECOMES ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE DESTINATIONS

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has visited the Municipality of Irig today, where he toured the municipal administration building and, on that occasion, announced the possibility that MDULS would invest funds next year in the reconstruction of its detached facility, which is currently in a very poor condition.

As stated by Martinović, despite it being located in the very centre of Irig, this facility had not been invested in for years. He added that the facility is of great importance, and that the plan is to open a new Assembly Hall in it. Martinović has also expressed his belief that the Ministry will be able to support the establishment of a One-Stop-Shop in Irig, as this would contribute to the further economic development and urbanization of this municipality.

“Irig is in an attractive location, it has a huge potential for economic, and especially tourism, development. Fruška Gora, Banja Vrdnik, eight monasteries, and seventeen registered wineries are located not far from Irig, and it is located halfway on the road between Belgrade and Novi Sad. I am sure that Irig, when all planned projects are implemented and the construction of the Fruška Gora Corridor is completed, will become one of the most attractive places in Serbia. We expect that numerous hotels, buildings and cottages will be built in this area, and that the municipality will be issuing far more building permits. This is perhaps the main reason why the establishment of OSS in Irig would be expedient,” Martinović has stressed.

Speaking about the fact that not all local self-governments in the Srem Administrative District are equally developed, whereby, on the one hand, there are municipalities such as Stara Pazova and Pećinci which are in the first category of development, while on the other, there are Irig and other less developed municipalities, the minister has pointed out that the State, headed by the President Aleksandar Vučić, will invest additional energy in the development of these less-developed municipalities.

“Irig will no longer be on the sidelines, but will have concrete financial support from the ministries and the Provincial Government for the implementation of projects,” Martinović has concluded.

During his visit to Irig, the minister held a meeting with the President of the Municipality of Irig, Tihomir Stojaković, and his associates, and also visited the “Mačkov podrum” winery.
