Today, the representatives of 11 local self-government units shall have the opportunity to get acquainted with the models of local public finance management at the conference, which is organized within the project Local Government Finance Reforms II in Serbia (RELOF2).

Opening the conference, the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Stanija Višekruna, has stressed that the goal of this gathering is to increase the capacity of knowledge and competencies of female leaders, which is important for the overall development of the society. She has reminded the attendees that the empowerment of women in politics is highly rated among the priorities of the Ministry and the Minister Marija Obradović, on whose initiative the Charter of Women’s Solidarity was signed in March and the Network of Women Mayors and Presidents of Municipalities was established.

Speaking about improving the participation of women at decision-making positions, Višekruna has stated that it is necessary to make additional efforts at all levels of management in order to truly achieve gender equality in all spheres of private and public life.

She has explained that the topics supported by the RELOF2 project, which are aimed at supporting local self-governments in applying the principles of good governance in regards to risk and performance management through comprehensive internal control and adequate public financial management, are recognized by MDULS as a significant contribution to the reform process in our country.

She has thanked the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) for its support to reforms in Serbia and has expressed her hope that successful cooperation would continue in the future in accordance with the needs of achieving the set goals.
