MDULS SUPPORTS JOINT PERFORMANCES OF ASSOCIATED CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES THROUGHOUT SERBIA

Representatives of the City of Loznica have visited the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government today, where they talked with Minister Marija Obradović about the possibilities for further financing of projects in the field of preventive action, risk reduction, and better elimination of consequences in emergency situations in the Drina River Basin.

The interlocutors have pointed out to Minister Obradović the needs of united cities and municipalities in the Drina River Basin regarding the issue of raising the total capacity for emergency response, presenting her with a project with which they applied for funds from the Budget Fund for the Local Self-Government Programme in 2022, within the fourth goal which refers to preventive action for reducing the risk of climate change and natural and other disasters.

Minister Obradović has pointed out that the projects which have been implemented during the previous three years, and which were financed by the Ministry from the Fund for Inter-Municipal Cooperation and supported by the Swiss Government, are a real example of successful cooperation between MDULS and LSUs in the Drina River Basin.

She has added that the Ministry shall continue to support joint performances of associated cities and municipalities throughout Serbia, emphasizing that this is one of the criteria in selecting the projects that MDULS will finance in cooperation with international donors.
