MINISTER MARIJA OBRADOVIĆ AT THE PROMOTION OF THE CENTRAL POPULATION REGISTER

Today, Minister Marija Obradović attended the beginning of the work and promotion of the Central Population Register, which is a joint project of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Government, as well as institutions that keep official records.

For the first time, data on citizens that are important for exercising their rights, without costs, will be found in one place, within a single electronic database. The Central Registry combines data from 13 Official Records kept by different institutions.

After visiting the Government Data Center, together with the Director of the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Government Mihailo Jovanović, Minister Obradović invited citizens to inspect the data kept about them in the Central Register through the e-Government Portal.

„The essence of today’s visit and promotion of the Central Population Register is for citizens to be sent to the Post Offices of Serbia and the Local Tax Administration Offices, where they will receive further instructions on how to use this Register. If we want to be a service to citizens, we must be at hand, and by accessing this Register, they would no longer have to go from counter to counter, “said Minister Obradović.

Director of the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Government Mihailo Jovanović said that this Register is a completely new service to citizens and expressed his satisfaction that today a big step is made, together with the relevant Ministry in establishing it and enabling the citizens to see their data in one place.

The Central Population Register is one of the most important innovations in the system of a modern and efficient state and administration, which is based on four Registers: the Register of Citizens, of the Business, Real Estate and the Address Register. Also, the Register will enable the data on the population to be used by citizens, as well as by bodies and institutions for the purposes of conducting proceedings.
