“The State has allocated funds and invested it in the reconstruction of a facility that has not been invested in for decades, and for me the biggest result is that we worked together on this project, through the efforts of the Municipality of Trstenik and MDULS to spend the funds in the right way and to show that investments in smaller areas like Trstenik are equally important to us, in order to motivate the population to stay here”, Minister Marija Obradović has said today after visiting the reconstructed PI “Buseri 2” in Trstenik.
She has said that the Government of the Republic of Serbia, through MDULS and through the programme “Partnership for Local Development”, had invested slightly less than RSD 21 million in the reconstruction of this kindergarten in Trstenik from the funds of the European Investment Bank, while the Municipality of Trstenik invested around RSD 4.5 million, and that what she sees on the field today, unlike when she last visited Trstenik in September of last year, is better than expected.
“The funds have been spent in the right way, while the rehabilitation of this facility and all the works performed on it required a lot of good will and cooperation, but also patience, bearing in mind that the kindergarten was operational at all times and that no one had it easy during that period, be them educators, children, or their parents. We shall continue to invest in small communities in Serbia, to work on making living conditions better in all Local Self-government Units in Serbia, because only in that way can we keep the population in their communities and work on raising the birth rate in them. All our investments shall be in vain if we don’t have anyone to inherit what we built, if we don’t have enough children, and if we don’t work on better services for all citizens, especially at the local level, but also on changing the mentality and our overall demographic” Obradović has concluded.
Together with MDULS State Secretary Maja Mačužić Puzić, she talked with the mayor Milena Turk today in Trstenik about other projects that this municipality is implementing in cooperation with MDULS, such as building a water supply network in the settlement of Odžaci and modernizing the municipal administration in order to provide the citizens of Trstenik with a more comfortable, high-quality and modern lifestyle.
