OBRADOVIĆ: MPALSG TO SUPPORT INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS IN THE FIELD OF PROTECTION AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE COUNTRY, JOINTLY WITH LSU

“The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government supports numerous innovative solutions locally, and encourages local strategic development in the field of protection against climate change,” Marija Obradovic, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government pointed out today at the First Session of the National Climate Change Council.

She reminded the attendees that MPALSG, together with local self-government units, proactively cooperated with other ministries and international partners in the implementation of projects aimed at preventing natural disasters caused by climate change.

Obradović added that the Ministry, in keeping with the Finance Contract “Partnership for Local Development” signed between the Republic of Serbia and the European Investment Bank, promoted the projects that introduce environmental and social management plans at the local level. She stated that 33 local self-government units will implement 35 different projects in the total value of EUR 30 million, in the following period.

“Despite of a number of challenges, MPALSG will continue with its active involvement and support to local governments in the fight against climate change in the country,” said Obradovic, expressing the expectation that the involvement of the civil sector in the work of the Council would contribute to transparency of planning in the field of combating the climate change at the national level.
