ONLINE WORKING MEETING WITH WORLD BANK COUNTRY MANAGER FOR SERBIA HAS BEEN HELD

Today, Lady Minister Marija Obradović held an online working meeting with the World Bank Country Manager for Serbia, Steven Ndegwa, with whom she agreed that it is important to continue the current cooperation with the intensified implementation of Action Plans.

Lady Minister informed her interlocutor about the three priorities that the Ministry will work on in this mandate, and those are, in the first place, the Reform of the Planning System, then the Continuation of Public Administration Reform and even stronger Support for Strengthening Local Self-Government Units in Serbia..

Ms. Obradović informed the World Bank Country Manager for Serbia in detail about the plans for the realization of the mentioned priorities, and especially about the new form of cooperation with cities and municipalities, i.e. regular meetings with mayors and municipal presidents, which are held every Thursday.

Stephen Ndegwa welcomed work priorities of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and announced continued support of his organization to public administration reform in Serbia. He estimated that the COVID 19 pandemic will affect the postponement of implementation of existing and the beginning of new projects. It will also have a negative effect on local economies, reduced investment, as well as on reform processes.

The interlocutors agreed that they shall continue their regular meetings, as well as meetings at the operational level between the World Bank Experts and the Ministry.
