POSSIBILITY OF DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT BY THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES FOR LOCAL PROJECTS IN SERBIA CONSIDERED

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, and the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Serbia, Mubarak Saeed Ahmed Burshaid Al Dhaheri, have discussed today the potential project cooperation and development support of the United Arab Emirates for the implementation of important projects at Local Self-Government Units in Serbia.

Martinović has pointed out that the Republic of Serbia is a multiconfessional country, in which numerous members of other ethnic and religious communities live in harmony and peace with the Serbian people, among whom one of the most numerous are Bosniaks who are mostly settled in the southwestern part of Serbia. He added that as a result of difficult historical circumstances, this region remained underdeveloped when compared to other parts of the country, and that, in accordance with the state policy of balanced regional development, the Government of the Republic of Serbia strives to further strengthen this region of our country.

In this regard, the topic of the meeting was the development support of the United Arab Emirates, which would be significant for the implementation of the project of building a green market in Sjenica, as well as of the project of rehabilitation of the preschool institution in this municipality.

At the meeting, it was agreed that in the coming period, the Ministry and the Embassy of UAE in Serbia will continue their communication as regards potential project cooperation.

The interlocutors have expressed their belief that the Republic of Serbia and the United Arab Emirates will continue to strengthen their already strong friendship, which was established and founded by the presidents of the two countries.
