Ruzic and Scott for continuation of successful cooperation

Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Branko Ruzic talked today with the United States Ambassador Kyle Scott about the priorities from the scope of work of the Ministry, as well as the possibilities for continuing and improving the successful cooperation.

Ambassador Scott expressed his satisfaction with the successful cooperation with the Government of Serbia and the Ministry in the past few years, especially on the inspection supervision reform through the USAID’s Business Enabling Project (USAID BEP). Ambassador expressed his hope that the work on this field will continue successfully, and the interlocutors agreed that the next step towards the establishment and implementation of the unique information system eInspector is extremely important.

Speaking about the priorities in the work of the Ministry, Minister Ruzic pointed out that the focus is on legislative activities in the field of functioning of local self-government units and protection of minority rights, as well as work on the centralization of the registry system in Serbia. He said that one of the permanent activities in the Ministry is constant work on the improvement of the Single Electoral Register, and that continuous fight against corruption is the priority of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

They also discussed about possibilities for launching a project to improve the quality of public administration performance through the application of the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI). In the implementation of the project, US knowledge and experience would be used, and the project itself would be focused on the continuous monitoring of services provided to citizens by the public administration. The project would focus on central and local level through the monitoring of services along the scope of work of the police and judiciary at the central level and health and social protection, municipal services and services provided by cities and municipalities at the local level.

The interlocutors expressed hope that such constructive meetings will be held in the future, and at the end of the visit, Ambassador Scott wished to Minister Ruzic a lot of happiness and success in his work.
