SCHOLARSHIP CONTRACTS AWARDED TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM MEDVEĐA

Today, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, had awarded scholarship contracts to high school students in Medveđa.

“The Government of the Republic of Serbia supports the efforts of students by continuing to invest in their education, because investing in youth is the best investment for the future of the country. We especially care about the youth living in the southern part of our country, and we firmly believe that they will apply the acquired knowledge in the municipality in which they were born and where they received their education, that is, that they will continue to live and work in their birthplaces. Serbia needs talented and persistent young people who love their country, and the State’s obligation is to help them develop their full potential,” Minister Martinović has said on this occasion, and wished the students successful continuation of their education.

He has said that caring for youth is high on the list of priorities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and that the interest of children and youth is its most important principle, adding that this practice will continue in the future.

This year, more than RSD 6.5 million have been allocated in the budget of the Service of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa for funding scholarships for high school students from three municipalities in the southern part of Serbia. Funds for scholarships in the amount exceeding RSD 2.7 million have been allocated for Bujanovac, RSD 2.5 million for Preševo, and RSD 1.3 million for Medveđa.

A total of 55 students have received scholarships in Medveđa, 105 will receive their scholarship contracts in Preševo, and 114 will receive their scholarship contracts in Bujanovac. The monthly amount of the scholarship is RSD 6,000, which shall be paid in September, October, November and December of this school year, while the Service of the Coordination Body had allocated funds for these purposes within the budget for the next year, in order to continue with the payment of scholarships until the end of the school year 2023/24.

The awarding of scholarship contracts in Medveđa was also attended by the Director of the Service of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa Nenad Mitrović, the Head of the Jablanica Administrative District, Miloš Ćirić, as well as by the President of the Provisional Authority of the Municipality of Medveđa, Dragan Kulić.

During his visit to the Municipality of Medveđa, Minister Martinović also visited the newly paved section of the Maćedonce – Retkocer road, the rehabilitation of which was financed by the Service of the Coordination Body in the amount of RSD 7.5 million.
