SECRETARY OF STATE STEVAN GLIGORIN VISITS VACCINATION POINTS IN ALEKSINAC MUNICIPALITY

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Stevan Gligorin, visited today a Roma settlement in Aleksinac, as a continued tour to Roma settlements in Serbia, where he visited two vaccination points and talked with representatives of local self-government.

Gligorin visited the vaccination point at the Center for Culture and Arts, as well as the point in the premises of the local community in the settlement of Žitkovac, where he talked with representatives of the Roma community about the benefits of vaccination against Covid 19 virus and the response of the Roma population to immunization. At these vaccination points where the population is immunized with and without a call, vaccination of about 200 citizens is planned today.

During the visit to both vaccination points, Gligorin pointed out that the response of Roma for immunization in Aleksinac is good, as well as the necessity to continue informing citizens about the Covid 19 virus, as well as of the importance of immunization. He praised the municipality of Aleksinac, for making efforts to increase the number of vaccinated citizens, especially citizens of the Roma community.

Gligorin talked with the representatives of the municipality of Aleksinac, the secretary of the Red Cross, the director of the Health Center and the director of the Center for Social Work about the current epidemiological situation in the municipality, the organization of immunization and the percentage of vaccinated citizens.

To date, a total of over 23% of citizens have been vaccinated in this municipality, the epidemiological situation is slowly stabilizing, and interest in vaccination is good, considering that a tour of about 40 locations where vaccinations are carried out in the field has been organized without scheduling. It was stated at the meeting that good cooperation has been established between the local self-government, the Red Cross, but also the team for Roma inclusion in order to enable immunization of this category of the population as well. Over 2,350 Roma live in the territory of the municipality of Aleksinac in seven settlements, three of which are substandard.
