SERBIA AWARDED AT OPEN GOVERNMENT PARTNERSHIP GLOBAL SUMMIT

The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, which coordinates national activities within the participation of the Republic of Serbia in the Open Government Partnership Initiative, is pleased to announce that Serbia has won 2nd place in the selection for the Most Influential Commitments from National Action Plans ,created as part of participation in this Initiative.

In the competition of European countries – participants in the Partnership, the Republic of Serbia was awarded for Simplification of Administrative Procedures and Regulations – ePAPIR, a commitment contained in the Action Plan for the period 2018-2020, for the implementation of which the Public Policy Secretariat was in charge.

By implementing this commitment, the services provided by the administration to the economy have been modernized through the optimization of 235 administrative procedures, which has resulted in annual savings for economic entities in the amount of EUR 33 million. Over 2,000 services have been transformed and made available in one place through the Registry of Administrative Procedures Web Portal.

In order to ensure the sustainability and further improvement of this reform, through the implementation of the current Action Plan for the implementation of the Open Government Partnership Initiative in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020-2022, the Law on the Registry of Administrative Procedures has been passed, while the list of administrative procedures for citizens is currently being worked on, in order to further simplify them.

The process of selecting the most influential commitments was launched as part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Open Government Partnership, with the aim of selecting and rewarding commitments that have noticeably improved people’s lives or the quality of democracy in each of the four Partnership regions. The best commitments have been selected through a voting process, in which over 8,000 citizens from countries and local communities – participants in the Partnership have participated, while the winners were announced at the opening ceremony of the Open Government Partnership Global Summit, which lasts from 15-17 December 2021.
