Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Branko Ruzic and Director of National Information Society Agency of the Republic of Korea Oh Hyunmok signed today in the Government of the Republic of Serbia the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Serbian-Korean Information Access Centre and cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT).
“Today, we have made another important step towards the advancement of electronic administration and information society in Serbia, and we continue to have very good cooperation with the Republic of Korea in these areas. In addition to training for civil servants, establishing a Serbian-Korean IT Centre will open doors to citizens and start-up companies, with capacity building and development of ICT training,” Minister Ruzic said after the signing of the Memorandum.
Cooperation in this initiative was initiated in direct communication with the Embassy of Korea, and the signing of the Memorandum, which is the basis for further concretization and operationalization of cooperation, was preceded by a series of bilateral meetings at the level of Serbian and Korean delegations.
During the visit to the Republic of Korea, the Serbian delegation had the opportunity to get acquainted with the development of ICT strategies in this country, as well as the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the city municipality of Daejeon, the National Health Insurance Service, the University National Hospital, the Tax Administration, the Innovation Centre and the Centre for Informatics and Security, in order to get acquainted with the functioning of the information systems in relation to the tasks performed by each of the institutions.
Previously, in March 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Korea on cooperation in the field of electronic administration, envisaging the exchange of good practices of these two countries.
