SIGNIFICANT SUPPORT OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE AND THE EUROPEAN UNION FOR BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN SERBIA

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Čedomir Rakić, has spoken today with the Director of Programme Co-ordination of the Council of Europe, Claus Neukirch, and the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade, Tobias Flessenkemper, about cooperation on the third phase of the project “Human Resources Management in Local Self-Government” and the continuation of the strategic partnership between the Ministry and the Council of Europe.

Rakić has pointed out that the strategic management of human resources is of crucial importance for strengthening the capacities of cities and municipalities and improving the quality of services provided to the citizens and the economy. Expressing his gratitude to the Council of Europe and the European Union for the support they provide to Serbia on its path to building modern and professional local self-government, Rakić has stressed that creating a positive environment for work in state and local self-government bodies is extremely important for the promotion of public administration as a desirable employer.

The interlocutors have concluded that the activities foreseen under the third phase of the aforementioned project shall ensure the sustainability and far-reaching effect of the joint work so far, which will result in firmly established processes of human resource management and professional development of employees at the local level, based on European standards in this area.

Rakić has expressed his belief that the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will continue its successful cooperation with the Council of Europe on new joint priorities and activities in the future.
