“Serbia achieved enviable results in the fight against COVID-19, particularly in terms of immunization of the population, but we cannot relax yet. Mutual cooperation between institutions and civil society organisations is very important, so that we can preserve people’s health and ensure economic prosperity of our country”, said State Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Stevan Gligorin today at the meeting with newly appointed facilitators of the ROMACTED programme in Serbia.
On this occasion, he pointed out the contribution provided by the Ministry in the fight against COVID-19, primarily by introduction of modern, digital procedures and by provision of easy application for immunization through the eGovernment Portal, taking into account that no category of the population is left out in this process.
Mr. Gligorin noted that the Ministry as early as in February organised a dialogue with members of the Roma community about immunization, which was followed by consultations with Roma physicians and numerous actions in the field with the aim of informing this category of the population about the coronavirus, to provide them assistance in applying for vaccination and to immunize them. He again urged as many citizens as possible to vaccinate.
On behalf of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the State Secretary expressed support to the ROMACTED programme in Serbia, which includes strengthening the capacities of local self-governments and increasing interaction of local representatives with citizens as one of its primary objectives, and invited participants in the programme to support future actions of the Ministry in the fight against the coronavirus.
