A coordination meeting was held today with donors who have so far supported inspection reform to discuss results achieved and the next steps in this area. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in cooperation with Naled.
Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Branko Ružić expressed satisfaction with the systematic approach to reforms where an inspector was not forgotten as a person and where most activities were related to capacity building and recognition of inspectors as top professionals in the system of Serbian civil servants.
“Good inspections do not exist without well-trained, motivated and decently paid inspectors”, he underlined.
The Minister thanked everyone for their support so far and asked for the provision of support in the future for the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Serbia to create a predictable economic environment in which inspectors and loyal businessmen cooperated and where repressive measures were aimed at those who knowingly violating laws and endangering the health and the environment of our citizens.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, representatives of the embassies of the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Germany, the Republic of Italy, USAID development programmes and projects, representatives of the OSCE, representatives of the British Good Governance Fund, representatives of the Swiss Cooperation Office, representatives of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency in Serbia and representatives of the association “Network of Inspectors of Serbia”.
