Today, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Marija Obradović, has talked with the Head of the Regional Representation of the European Investment Bank (EIB) for Western Balkans, Alessandro Bragonzi, about the implementation of the project which MDULS is implementing in cooperation with UNDP, and with EIB’s financial support.
The meeting focused on concrete progress and implementation of projects in 33 Local Self-government Units, which aim to improve the infrastructure through investment in the construction and rehabilitation of public facilities, local farmers’ markets and public lighting systems, in the amount of EUR 30 million.
Minister Obradović has informed the Head of the EIB Regional Representation for Western Balkans about the progress in projects with Local Self-government Units with which financing agreements have been concluded thus far, which define the amount of at least 15% of the investment value as LSUs participation in financing of the projects.
The interlocutors have agreed that, in the current mandate of MDULS, the biggest progress was achieved in the implementation of projects, and have assessed the mutual cooperation as very successful. The conversation was also focused on the extension of this type of cooperation in the future, with the possibility of including a larger number of Local Self-government Units in this type of projects.
“It is important to determine the financial and time deadlines for our further cooperation, because it has been shown that there is great interest in such infrastructure projects in the field. I sincerely hope that all of us – MDULS, EIB and LSUs in Serbia, will find mutual interest in continuing this cooperation in the future,” Obradović has said.
Bragonzi has stated that the EIB is extremely satisfied with the cooperation with MDULS thus far, and informed Minister Obradović about future plans in the light of new global priorities, as well as regional priorities regarding economic support and investment plans, but also investments into Green Agenda projects.
