THE INTERNATIONAL GIRLS IN ICT DAY WAS CELEBRATED AT THE SKIP CENTER

As part of the celebration of the International Girls in ICT Day, more than 30 students of the “Kralj Petar Prvi” Elementary School from Belgrade visited the Serbian-Korean IT and Access Center of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government. Through the interactive workshop “Girls in IT – visual programming”, the girls had the opportunity to get acquainted with the basics of programming and to learn more about the functioning of the SKIP center and the organization of free trainings for citizens in a conversation with representatives of MDULS.

Given the fact that MDULS provides support to the development of information and communication literacy of young people through the work of the SKIP center, and bearing in mind that “Girls’ in the ICT Day” aims to encourage girls not to succumb to stereotypes when choosing future professions, but to be guided by personal interests and talents, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government institutionally supports the implementation of this event.

The “Girls in the ICT Day” is organized for the fourteenth year in a row by the Association of Business Women of Serbia, under the patronage of the Government of Serbia.

As part of this event, the girls will visit ICT companies and firms in whose activities women are not sufficiently represented, as well as those whose owners are women or in which women are in management positions. In addition, a competition for the best video work called “Capture an Idea” will be organized. The winners of the competition will then be presented with prizes at the final ceremony, which will mark the end of the event.
