THE THIRD ROUND TABLE WAS HELD TO INDICATE THE IMPORTANCE OF MUTUAL COORDINATION OF PARTICIPANTS IN THE PROCESS OF REGISTRATION IN THE REGISTRY OF BIRTHS IN THE CASES OF THE BIRTH OF A CHILD WHOSE MOTHER DOES NOT HAVE PERSONAL DOCUMENTATION

The third online round table on the importance of mutual cooperation of all participants in the process of registering the birth of a child whose mother does not have personal documents was held on Monday, June 14, 2021.

On this occasion, the participants were also introduced to the importance of applying the Instructions for dealing with cases of the birth of a child whose parents do not have personal documents in order to enable registration in the registry of births.

The instruction is based on the principle of the best interest of the child, urgency and mutual cooperation of all participants, who, with the legally prescribed procedure, ensure that a child whose mother does not have personal documents realizes the right to be registered in the registry of births.

In this way, it is ensured not only that the newborn child is registered in the registry of births, but also that the mother of the child is enabled to address her legal invisibility.

The activities of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, which were carried out in the previous period in cooperation with the Protector of Citizens and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees – Diplomatic Representation in Serbia, have enabled such cases to appear as an exception.

It is the resolution of these individual cases that is the focus of the current activities of the Ministry.

In this way, from April this year until today, in has been made possible for over 250 participants, health workers from maternity hospitals who work on the registration of the birth of a child, registrars, police officers, employees of social work centers, officials working on free legal aid and the Commissioner for Refugees, to be informed of the importance of applying the Instructions for dealing with the cases of the birth of a child whose parents do not have personal documents.
