TWO-DAY JOINT WORKSHOP FOR COORDINATION AND PLANNING OF ACTIVITIES OF MDULS AND SCTM OPENED

A joint two-day Workshop for Coordination and Planning of Activities of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities was opened today in Banja Vrdnik. The Workshop was opened by the State Secretary of MDULS, Đorđe Dabić.

Pointing out that the common goal of the two institutions is modern, professional, efficient and responsible local self-government, Dabić has emphasized that efforts are being made to change the system regulations in that area, as well as that several analyses have been prepared which should support that process.

“The framework which obliges us to do so is the adopted Programme for the Reform of the Local Self-Government System in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2021-2025, and that is why it is important that we work to achieve the goal set under this document, which is the establishment of a local self-government system which enables the efficient and sustainable exercise of citizens’ rights,” Dabić has pointed out.

He has expressed his belief that the implemented reforms, as well as those that are still being worked on in the field of human resource management and professional training, had a great impact on the achievement of past and future results. He added that innovative regulations were adopted and that a system of competencies for the work of civil servants in Local Self-government Units was introduced, as well as a new system of professional development.

The Secretary General of the SCTM, Nikola Tarbuk, has highlighted the successful cooperation of the SCTM and MDULS, and stated that a strong inter-institutional partnership has been established in the interest of local self-governments in the Republic of Serbia.

“The results we achieved during the previous year are confirmation of a quality partnership. We shall use today’s meeting in order to create a joint work plan for the current year, with the aim of joint engagement of the two institutions in the field of further reform of the local self-government system,” Tarbuk has emphasized.

At the joint workshop, the participants have reflected on the activities implemented during 2022 and discussed the planned future activities, and there was also talk about the reform of regulations, as well as about the implementation of status measurements concerning the local self-government system and the creation of analytical documents.
