MARTINOVIĆ: SOLVING THE ISSUE OF LAND CONSOLIDATION IS KEY FOR FURTHER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF POŽAREVAC

“A huge problem that the City of Požarevac is facing is the process of land consolidation, which started back in 1982 and has not been completed to this day. It is exactly this pending procedure that greatly hinders the further development of the city, because had the land consolidation been completed, we would have much more land available here today for the construction of factories, i.e. much more space for industrial zones”, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Martinović, PhD, has said during his visit to Požarevac, adding that a meeting will be held with the representatives of the Republic Geodetic Authority, the Real Estate Cadastre Service of the City of Požarevac, as well as with the representatives of the City of Požarevac and MDULS, on this urgent issue.

Martinović has pointed out that his visit to Požarevac is a working visit, as was the case with all the other visits to local self-governments in the past two months, with the aim of identifying the issues that municipalities and cities are facing, so that they can be overcome by the joint efforts of line ministries and Local Self-Government Units.

“Požarevac is a historically important city, practically the centre of this part of Serbia, a city that has a lot of potential and that has been developing exceptionally well in the last few years. The Republic of Serbia, together with the leadership of the City of Požarevac, led by Mayor Saša Pavlović, had invested a lot of financial resources and energy in the economic development of Požarevac. The Government of the Republic of Serbia will continue to undertake efforts aimed at the economic development of Braničevo Administrative Districts and all the other Administrative Districts in the Republic of Serbia,” Martinović has stressed.

Recalling that the Local Self-Government Units have a reliable partner in the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the minister has expressed his hope that MDULS will be able to support the further reconstruction of the “Old District Offices” building, which dates back to the time of King Milan Obrenović, for which, in this year alone, RSD 10 million have been allocated from the Budget Fund for ambient lighting on the building’s façade.

During his visit, the minister held a meeting with the Mayor of Požarevac, Saša Pavlović, and his associates.
